Are you ready to make a splash with your outdoor photography?

Calling all the ladies! Since 2011, Colleen's all-women's workshops have helped inspire photographic growth, personal development, wanderlust, and life-long friendships. And Sheography™ aims to continue that, to help women of all ages, backgrounds, and photographic skill become "the woman you were meant to be through the art of photography and adventure."

Join professional outdoor photographer and instructor--and river addict--Colleen Miniuk on this exciting photography workshop, where we'll spend 4 days/3 nights exploring the San Juan River. We're teamed up with Holiday River Expeditions who will help us go with the flow and guide us through the canyons, gentle rapids, and rich history of this magical desert oasis.

We'll kick off this journey on the evening of June 12 with a group dinner and a pre-trip orientation by Holiday River guides in Blanding, UT.

Then, on the morning of June 13, we'll pack our gear into dry bags (provided) and then travel with Holiday River Expeditions to the launch at Sand Point. From there, we'll explore 83-miles of river, listening to the water, chasing the light, and marveling at ancient remants, winding side canyons, and wildlife through each of our own lenses. Although we'll base ourselves out of oar boats, stand-up paddleboards and inflatable kayaks will be on hand for those who wish to experience the river in a new way.

Along the way, Colleen will cover techniques to help you make meaningful images of your journey through the canyon's embrace at both a leisurely contemplative approach and a faster "grab-n-go" pace. In addition to answering your specific questions, she'll cover things like:

In the evenings on the river, we'll enjoy spectacular camps on beaches or ledges while dining on delectable meals our guides prepare for us! Although we'll work together as a team to set up our camp each night using a "fire line," our Holiday River guides know just how to spoil us for our efforts.

Then, on the afternoon of June 16, our group will take out at Clay Hills. Holiday River Expeditions will shuttle us back to Blanding, where we'll enjoy a final group dinner and enjoy reliving the memories of the trip to conclude the trip. Because we'll be returning later in the evening on the 16th, overnight accomodations are included.

Physical Requirements: Best suited for active, sure-footed participants who are capable of hiking up to three-miles roundtrip on uneven, rocky, and uphill terrain while carrying a limited amount of their gear. All outings are optional, and those with more limited mobility or physical restrictions can opt to stay closer to the raft. This is an excellent introductory trip to camping and rafting for those considering my Grand Canyon Rafting Photography Retreat.
