Calling all the ladies! Since 2011, Colleen's all-women's workshops have helped inspire photographic growth, personal development, wanderlust, and life-long friendships. And Sheography™ aims to continue that, to help women of all ages, backgrounds, and photographic skill become "the woman you were meant to be through the art of photography and adventure."

Join professional outdoor photographer and instructor Colleen Miniuk (who attempted to stand-up paddleboard the length of Lake Powell in 2015--it's a good story!) on this photographic exploration of the second largest reservoir in the United States. By boat, kayak, and foot, we'll marvel at staggering cliffs, dancing water reflections, and sandstone rock formations in this special desert oasis. For those looking to get a glimpse of this geological wonder from a rare on-the-lake perspective, it's a can't miss experience!

We'll kick off this journey on the evening of September 13 with a group dinner and a pre-trip orientation by the Hidden Canyon Kayak, who we've paired up with to provide expert guidance for our trip, in Page, AZ.

Then, on the morning of September 14, we'll pack our gear into dry bags (provided) and launch from Antelope Point Marina. Our itinerary will remain flexible to take advantage of fleeting light, but possible stops include Cookie Jar Butte, Crossing of the Fathers, Labryinth Canyon, Anasazi Canyon, Rainbow Bridge, Oak Canyon, and the Escalante Arm. Although we'll base ourselves out of a support vessel, stand-up paddleboards and kayaks will be on hand to help us get through narrow slot canyons--places boats can't go!

Along the way, Colleen will cover techniques to help you make meaningful images at a fast "grab-n-go" pace as we move from location to location, as well as at a more leisurely contemplative approach when we're on dry land. In addition to answering your specific questions, she'll cover things like:

In the evenings on the lake, we'll enjoy spectacular catered camps on sandy beaches while dining on delectable meals our guides prepare for us--a welcome treat for all our hard work during the day. If you've never camped before, you gotta try this! Be ready for the posh-est camping you'll ever do.

Then, around 3 pm on September 18, our group will return to the manufactured world.

Physical Requirements: Best suited for active, sure-footed participants who are capable of hiking up to two-miles roundtrip uphill on slickrock terrain while carrying a limited amount of your gear. Attendees will be given the opportunity to kayak or even stand-up paddle board at times so participants should be comfortable around water but no previous kayaking experience is assumed. All outings are optional, and those with more limited mobility or physical restrictions can opt to stay closer to the boat.
