Outside the coastal fishing port of Murotsu, the daughter of a Buddhist monk at the Kamo Shrine holds onto to an ornamental doll that was originally part of an elaborate 7-tiered display set up by her family to celebrate “Girl’s Day” during the Hina Matsuri, or “Doll Festival.”
